Curls are great when they work in our favour. But how many times have we woken up to find that those locks are going in every direction, rather than in nice waves or free-flowing curls? Countless times.
Here, I'm taking us through the steps to help define your curls, because they are gorgeous - they just don't always believe it.
So, without further ado, let's show them how;
1. Don't shampoo your hair too regularly, and use a hydrating shampoo & conditioner.
Shampoo will dry your hair out. And for curly hair, this often leads to frizz. Using shampoo & conditioner that hydrates your hair will help lock in moisture and keep your hair smooth, flowing into the curls they're meant for.
2. Wrap your hair up in a towel after a shower.
Try not to rub your hair because causing this friction will often lead to more tangles. Instead, use the towel to gently squeeze excess water, and wrap your hair up for a while. After a little while, detangle your hair using a wide tooth comb - don't brush - to help smooth any remaining tangles.
3. Avoid drying your hair with heat.
Hair dryers are great for when you need to get moving after washing your hair. Try and opt for using colder air, rather than heat. This will help to stop your hair from drying out and frizzing.
4. Add some extra hydration.
Argan oil is perfect for hydrating and softening hair. This lends itself well for curls that need moisture to hold its shape, and softens it to prevent those curls from tangling. There are many benefits to using a little argan oil every day, or every second day. Some include protection against heat damage, humidity, and course hair developed from colouring.
5. Keep your hair tied up in a loose bun.
Overnight, consider tying your hair up in a loose bun. This helps to prevent breakage, and frizz developing from tossing and turning throughout the night.
